Students at Greystanes High School are allowed to use material from the internet for academic purposes, as long as they cite the author/creator in their bibliography.
However, it is important that students understand that this same material cannot be published on the internet unless they have permission from the creators of the material that they plan on using. This includes images, music, videos, and so on. Students who publish other's work without permission might be held accountable for breaching copyright.
There are sites such as Creative Commons that allow students to use, modify or adapt various materials and then publish them on the internet. The site and creator must be cited next to the material. Here is an example:
