Leadership and development

Students don't have to be school captains or house captains to be considered leaders. We encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.

Student Representative Council

The student representative council (SRC) is a group of students from Year 7 to 12 who have been elected by their peers to represent the student body of Greystanes High School. They have a voice in the decision making process and campaign for the needs and wants of students. SRC members dedicate their time, energy and ideas to run various fund raising and spirit building initiatives for the students and staff of the school.

Attached is Information regarding the Student Representative Council Constitution.

Information regarding the Captaincy process is also attached.

Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is strongly supported as a leadership and student development program by the staff at the school. The program was introduced in 1986 and continues to be a popular program for students who need a little more challenge in their lives.

It is a voluntary, non-competitive program of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14 to 25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time.

The program is run at three levels:

  • Year 9 students complete the bronze level of the award.
  • If they complete the bronze level, they can choose to continue onto silver level in Year 10
  • gold level in Year 11.

We offer positions to Year 9 students in February each year to students who wish to participate with the full support of parents and commitment from the students.
