Students in Year 7 and 8 complete two semesters of Visual Arts where they learn to work with a wide range of materials, exploring the Visual Arts of both the past and present. The course focus is on artist practice and learning new ways of making art.
Students are encouraged to participate, to respect each others' views, to visually communicate explored themes, and their own ideas. Throughout this unit students are introduced to wide range of materials and techniques. These include drawing, ceramics, painting, lino printing, photography, digital animation and ink illustrations. Students are taught the fundamentals of art to build problem solving, critical thinking and creative skills. All classwork is recorded in a Visual Arts diary including documentation of artworks, ideas and reflective evaluations.
