Greystanes High School values sport as an important part of the school curriculum. We have an outstanding sporting history having a reputation for competing in sport at the highest levels across all fields of sport.

Students get a range of opportunities to play different sports whether it be at carnivals, grade sports, knockout teams, or recreational and house sports.

At the end of the year we have a sports presentation ceremony, where we acknowledge all our sports stars, from Year 7 to Year 11.

Mr Williams and Mr Scanes (PDHPE or personal development, health and physical education) are the school sport organisers.

Weekly sport

Weekly sport is held on a Wednesday afternoon during school time. Students are expected to actively participate and wear the correct school sports uniform.

There are three different types of sport on Wednesdays:

  • grade sport which is where Greystanes High School compete against other schools in the Hills Zone in a variety of team sports
  • recreational sport which involves going outside school to activities such as laser tag, ten pin bowling, swimming and the gym. Here is the list of winter activities
  • house sport where students sample a variety of sports as part of a round robin tournament playing different sports each week.

Permission note

Each year, a sport permission note is to be completed and returned to the school. Download and view the Greystanes High School sport permission note (PDF 180KB)

Carnivals

We have three whole school carnivals each year – swimming, cross country and athletics at which all students are encouraged to compete. Those finishing at the top will then go on to represent the school and compete at zone level. Students then have the opportunity to compete at Sydney West Area and Combine High Schools State levels.

Knockout sports

Knockout sports play a key part of our sporting success, with Greystanes High School and Prospect Zone students taking part in a large number of state and area knockout competitions run as extra-curricular activities throughout the school year. Sports include: soccer, rugby league, hockey, basketball, netball, tennis, cricket, waterpolo, ultimate frisbee and touch football.
