Full School Return
Dear Parent and Families,
The countdown is on as we approach the return of all students. Year 12 are to be congratulated for their positive and calm return to regular classes this week and we are excited to welcome back Years 7 to 11 on Monday 25th October.
A few things in preparation of the return to onsite learning:
Hygiene and Safety
In accordance with Department of Education requirements, we will endeavour to keep cohorts separated as much as possible. In order for this to happen the following measures will be in place:
Staggered finish times
To avoid all students leaving school at the same time, there will be staggered finish times.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Wednesday - Sport Day
Year 9 and 10 2:30pm 2:20pm
Year 7 and 8 2:40pm 2:30pm
Year 11 and 12 2:50pm Students will be dismissed at lunch
Students who are catching buses will wait in the quad whilst all other students will exit the school and make their way home.
Playground organisation
To assist with the separation of cohorts, students will be encouraged to restrict themselves to the following areas:
Stage 6
- D Block deck
- C Block Lawn
- Area between E and G Block
Stage 5
- Top Oval
- Top Oval Cola
Stage 4
- Quad
- Basketball Courts
House groups
There will be no house group for the remainder of the year. Roll call will be marked during period 1 classes and daily messages and information will be provided during this time.
Just a reminder all students and staff are required to bring and wear a mask whilst indoors.
Attendance
The expectation is that all students will be onsite learning as of Monday 25th October with online learning ceasing at this time. The exception to this is:
- if a student has a medical certificate which says they can not return due to a condition or illness
- they are currently unwell
- they have been asked by NSW Health to self-isolate
Student Well Being
Just a reminder that there is a counselling service provided every day by the two school Counsellors Nada Madjar and Brendan Correy. Students are encouraged to access this service if they need assistance in managing a return to the hustle and bustle of school life.
Canteen
A full canteen service will be provided. Students will be asked to social distance whilst queuing. Students are encouraged to order their lunch.
Uniform
We look forward to students returning in full school uniform. The Uniform Shop provides facilities for online ordering and students are able to pick up these orders on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00am to 10:30am. Students are able to purchase items directly from the store before school and Recess1 on Monday and Tuesday’s also.
Subject Fee Refunds.
For students who study CAPA and TAS subjects, an email has been sent regarding subject fees. If you have not received this information please contact the school.
Year 6 Orientation
At this stage there is no decision around the ability of the school to offer Orientation Day. Further information is expected shortly.
In the coming week we will provide additional information concerning;
- HSC exam venues and protocols
- Year 12 sign out
- Formal
On behalf of the staff of Greystanes High School I would like to thank you for all of your efforts in assisting your child to learn from home. For many of you, this has also meant juggling the demands of working from home. An amazing effort!
Yours Sincerely
